Light guiding glass
The LIF elements are integrated between standard double-glazed windows.
The light guiding glass can be fitted in addition with heat-insulating
coatings and with coatings for sun protection and optical design.
Due to the modular construction of the light guiding elements pane sizes up to
2400x500 mm (standard) special pane sizes up to 3000x1000 mm can be manufactured.
Light guiding element LIF
LIF Light Guide is an innovative daylight system improving the light quality
and reducing the energy demand for artificial light. It operates like light
wave conductors and requires no moving parts.
Even at direct sunshine LIF illuminates uniformly within a room. The spectral
composition of daylight and therefore the colour reproduction are not influenced.
The light guiding elements create the prerequisite for fatigue-free and safe
working as well as for higher motivation and productivity of the users.
LIF is ideal for the illumination of school rooms and workstations.
The uniform illumination reduces significantly the artificial lighting even
on days when much energy is consumed normally by artificial illumination due to
protection from heat and glare. Combined with an artificial lighting control
compensating the natural ups and downs of daylight, daylight systems like LIF
can save up to 60% of lighting energy over the year.
As the light guiding elements are positioned between the panes of double
glazing-units and have no moving parts there is no need for cleaning and
maintenance. This integrated construction method permits a free design
of facade.
