Glare protection

Today computer monitors are abundant in offices worlwide.

According to the "Regulations of office work with visual display terminals" (published 1996) the lighting of workplaces has to avoid direct and reflected glare.

According to DIN 5035-7 (draft), a luminance of up to 4000 cd/mē falling through a window onto VDU-based workstations is not generally felt as discomfort in light rooms.

Where high-quality VDUs are used (quality class I as defined in DIN EN ISO 9241-7), the luminance of room surfaces which may be reflected in the screen should not exceed an average of 1000 cd/mē and a maximum of 2000 cd/mē.

LIF Light Guides meet this International Standards by transfomation of direct sunlight in diffuse light and by vertical redirection of the light to the ceiling. In this way pleasant daylight is directed uniformly in the depth of room and disturbing glare on workstations is avoided.
